Emerging Terrain Elevation Station Revival – Dinker’s

Emerging Terrain, Dinker’s Bar, 2368 S. 29th Street, Omaha, NE 68105

Friday, September 7th, 11am – 2pm. FREE. Paid lunch available.

In June of this year, Emerging Terrain hosted an epic dinner celebration along the 36th Street Bridge over I-80. The event, titled Elevate, involved multiple collaborators of enormous creative talent working together in teams to design and construct ‘elevation stations’ that evoked conversation around the Stored Potential banner topics: food, land use, agriculture and transportation. The result was 18 unique stations that for a day turned the 36th Street bridge into a vibrant place, full of a unique energy and spirit. In celebration of Omaha Creative Week, three of these stations will be showing up around various parts of the city to continue the conversation.

You can find a 20+ foot table etched with the names and addresses of homes that previously stood where the interstate now exists created by Grant Landreth and Chris Jansen. Grab a special Polish burger from inside Dinker’s Bar (2368 S. 29th Street) and enjoy lunch while we discuss the transportation future of Omaha and the master planning process for the Park and Boulevard System. We will be there from 11am-2pm.

Bob Wiltfong’s “You Don’t Know Dick”

PS Collective, 6056 Maple St

Saturday, September 1, 8 p.m. $15. Proceeds benefit Benson Theatre Restoration Project.

Omaha-native and former Daily Show correspondent and Nationwide Insurance’s The World’s Greatest Spokesperson, Bob Wiltfong brings his new one-man improv routine to Omaha. The title isn’t meant to be a dirty joke or anything; it’s actually a true statement about a guy named Dick that Bob just didn’t know very well.

“It’s actually about a real-world inspiration for me, in that the first home my wife and I bought in New York was from an older gentleman named Dick. He had been married to his wife for around 50 years when we bought the home. He took a liking to my wife and I so much so that when he left us the house, he left behind a bottle of champagne and a note, along with all of the love letters that he and his sweetheart had sent each other,” Wiltfong explains.

REBEL Yell – Mad Men

REBEL Interactive, 1217 S. 13 Street

Friday, September 7, 4-7 p.m. RSVP.

Omaha Creative Week needs a great, live party and the REBEL Yell has a reputation to live up to, so we’re crafting an engaging theme. The theme of the upcoming REBEL Yell is Mad Men. Let’s get our party-on 60s-style with a retro evening full of glamour, neat drinks and finger food, and Miles Davis. Just like Don Draper needs his skinny tie, we need you! Bring a friend or the whole office. Drinks and apps on us.

This is your chance to wear that classic, fitted suit and matching fedora, Jackie O.-inspired dress, or those questionable golf pants you picked up at the vintage shop. Mingle among good people, participate in our advertising games, and try not to cry as you flip through the 1964 Life article that predicts we’ll have flying cars by 1999.

Wait…Did You Say “Advertising Games?”

We REBELs will be the official hosts of some friendly advertising games for our guests. Let your creative juices flow by thinking up winning taglines (after a cocktail or two, of course) and more! Winners get bragging rights.
Don’t miss out—it’ll be a gas.

An opportunity to experience creativity in action!  Join the Opera Omaha Chorus for an open music rehearsal as they prepare Verdi’s opera, La Traviata.  The spark begins with a brief reception where Omaha Creative Week attendees can meet and greet members of the Opera Omaha Chorus: men and women from the community with very different backgrounds and day jobs that unite to form the ensemble at the core of Opera Omaha’s productions.   Following the reception, Music Director J. Gawf will give the crowd a short talk on how he shapes the sound of the ensemble: creating a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.  Attendees to Opera Omaha’s spark will then witness the actual rehearsal, experiencing creativity in action!  After observing a portion of the rehearsal, the attendees will adjourn to a nearby location for beverages and to try their hand in singing a number of songs, including the famous chorus from La Traviata that they just learned!
